Kam Sheung Road MTR Station – Official Records

Public Hong Kong

Kam Sheung Road MTR Station opened in 2003 as part of the West Rail Phase I fast-track project that was aimed at improving the connection between the North Western New Territories – a historically rural part of Hong Kong with three “new towns” – and urban Kowloon. The project involved, among other developments, 30 km of alignment and nine stations. Kam Sheung Road Station is the first elevated station after the Tai Lam tunnel.

The West Rail Line was estimated to service approximately 350.000 people per day upon its opening in 2003 and 500.000 people by 2011. Reports, however, indicate that a far smaller number of passengers are making use of the line.
